Can't Wait for Summer!

So, being a high school teacher is both fun and exhausting. I truly enjoy my job, my students, and a handful of my co-workers. Thankfully, this year, I've been blessed with the opportunity to stay home for the summer instead of reporting to some sort of employment. During this time, I plan on enjoying life's simplest things like waking up early to sit on the porch and watch the sun rise as I  read one of the many novels that have been waiting for me. How about, just going to the park with my family to enjoy the nice hot Florida weather?! Hmm...the beach sure does sound good! Those few things I mentioned are some of the world's simplest things to do, yet working non-stop sometimes does not allow for enjoyment of such treasures. So, my countdown begins TODAY! Summer, here I COME!

Cars Baby Shower (Basic Package)

This baby shower was a breeze because it was part of a basic package. The chair shown in the picture is not mine. I now have a chair of my own that is white and decorated (for an additional fee). Everything else shown in this baby shower was made by me.

Osama is Dead; God is GOOD

I awoke to the news this morning and the only words that came out of my mouth were simply, "Praise God". It's amazing to see how He didn't do it when most were expecting it to be done or even when it was most desired...yet He made it happen. I remember visiting the disastrous site where the towers once stood only a few months after the attacks...all I remember was the great hole excavated into the New York City streets surrounded by thousands of missing posters on display. Despite the passing of the months, New Yorkers remained hopeful. With the smell of decay still in the air, I remember walking the streets of Manhattan and having my black Air Force Ones turn gray from the dust still lingering in the air. I will never forget my visit, nor the thousands of people who lost their lives so innocently at the hands of such evil.

Because we don't know when life will end, it's best to just live in the moment and engrave every memory deeply into our brain. As I plan my son's party, I remind myself to stop saying what I 'plan' on doing and just do it...I can't wait to celebrate his 4th birthday..he's been such a blessing and source of joy for my family...I will be making it extra special so that he will always remember to celebrate life....for so many people that have gone on to glory do not still have that opportunity.

The Beginning of Gifted Creations-Blogging

Well, anyone who knows me knows that I love writing....so I decided to go with the new 'blogging' phenomenon. For all of my visitors, please know that this site will soon be replacing my website 'www.GiftedCreationsbyAstrid.com' simply because I enjoy the simplicity of the blog site. If you know me well, you also know that my brain processes information in a strategic format...and anything unstructured flusters me  and causes anxiety. Blogging, unlike my website, will allow me to organize my posts chronologically as it simultaneously allows my visitors to go back and view my older postings without me having to do any additional 'structuring' or organizing...thus saving me much appreciated time. So, I will do my best to go back as far as I can and post pics of parties I've already done, but for the most part, this will be my new creative forum and outlet so that visitors can get ideas and potential customers can review the work which I take such great pride in!

Currently, I am working on 3 parties all at the same time! The World of Candy, Cars Baby Shower, and my son's Cowboy Woody Extravaganza! I haven't gotten overwhelmed, simply because I've been doing bits and pieces as the days allow. Otherwise, I would be, as my black twin from another mother calls it, "spazzing".

SN: Please keep all of the people in Alabama in your prayers. A dear friend of mine is in the heart of Bama...Jazz, you're on my mind and in my heart...praying for your safety.
